Tales of eternal friendship never run out of fashion in Bollywood and London Dreams treads similar ground. With Vipul Shah at the helm, this musical promises to engage the audience with its dramatic twists and intriguing storyline.

The plot

Arjun (Devgn) and Mannu (Khan) are childhood friends whose musical ambitions lead them to two different places. While Arjun goes to London to fulfill his grandpa's dream of performing at Wembley, Mannu joins a musical troupe in his village. Arjun forms a band in London with brothers Zoheb (Singh) and Wasim (Kapoor), and music enthusiast Priya (Asin). He convinces Mannu to join the band. But once the friends reunite, their lives take different turns.

 Southern siren

After her breakthrough debut flick Ghajini, Asin takes on London Dreams. "I play Priya, who wishes to break away from her South Indian conservative family and try her hand at hip hop and rock," says Asin.

 Khan and hot stars

Talking about Salman Khan, Asin says she was impressed with his professionalism. "And I didn't encounter any of his so-called starry tantrums." And regarding Devgn, Asin was in for a surprise. "I had an image of a serious and intense Ajay, but he turned out to be quite the opposite. He's a total prankster!" Devgn too had kind words about Asin. "I think she is one of the most talented newcomers," he says.

 Rock gurus

Rahman was initially considered to compose the music but was replaced by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy. Their music in London Dreams has definitely cast its magic on the music charts.

Film File

■ Initially it was Raj Kumar Santoshi who was to direct London Dreams with Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan playing the lead characters.

■ Devgn and Salman were last seen together in the commercial success of 1999 Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

■ Devgn and Asin's looks in the film are modelled on U2's Bono and Avril Lavigne, respectively.

■ London Dreams is the first Vipul Shah film which doesn't star Akshay Kumar after Aankhen, Waqt, Namastey London and Singh Is Kinng.
