DUBAI It takes time for kids to get acclimatised to a sport like basketball. Normally it’s only after they reach around five years they are introduced to the game. But MPAC Sports have come up with a innovative concept to introduce the game to young ones; in fact really young ones.
The concept called the Ball’N’Babies provides a great platform for kids in the age group of three to five to begin to understand the sport and is all set to begin this Saturday.
“This is a very unique concept,” said Ahmad I Elzahdan, COO of MPAC Sports. “We already have good programmes running for kids in the other age group starting from five to 18 years. We had this concept in mind, but when we were approached by parents about introducing something for the toddlers, we went ahead with the idea.
“Hence, we worked on a concept and we are happy we could come up with a programme that can keep the young ones busy and fit,” he added.
The programme will have a 45-minute session of hoop play broken down into the development of the fundamentals involved. It will be held in three venues in Dubai including the Times Square Mall and Dubai Marina Mall.
“The programmes are well designed to facilitate them to join the future MPAC Sports programmes if they are interested in taking up basketball seriously.
“We will have 10 kids in each group and two coaches will take care of the group. This is to ensure that every kid gets personalised care,” he added.
Since the young ones tend to lose interest quite easily, Elzahdan said there will be a lot of fun elements added to the programme.
“We have to ensure they don’t get bored of the programme. We have a lot of fun activities during the sessions which also ensures they stay active and healthy.
“With summer just round the corner and parents finding it difficult to keep their kids busy, this is an ideal programme for them to send their kids to,” said Elzahdan.
