Love hits the dance floor

Love hits the dance floor

Last updated:

Music is a reflection of the soul. It is our "sanctuary" when we feel down or are in love. Every song has a special meaning to us: maybe it's because it exactly describes how we feel or maybe it's because we heard it during a moment that is special to us.

My name is Rami Jaber and I will be reviewing all the latest and upcoming artists, their albums and their music in an attempt to guide you to find your "sanctuary".

So what's new this week?

Clubbers Guide Arabia 2006
DJ Charlie C along with the Ministry of Sound had really done well with this album! Even if you aren't a regular house music listener, you won't be able to resist the beat Charlie C is mixing.

Contains big hits worth listening to such as Olav Basoski - Waterman, Dannii Minogue Vs. The Soul Seekerz - Perfection, Steve Mac Vs. Mosquito featuring Steve Smith - Lovin' You More, and Stunt - Raindrops.

There is also a remix of DHT's track Listen To Your Heart that wasn't aired on your local radio stations and is simply amazing. I was also impressed to see that Charlie C didn't fear considering the Arabic R.E.G. Project and their track called Afreg.

Another thing that caught my attention is the sweet smooth transitions between the tracks. You can just stick this CD into your hi-fi system at home and assure yourself of a great house party!

Gorillaz: Demon Days
Ingenious work for a group that doesn't really exist, and guess what? It's a sequel! Damon Albarn was able in this album to combine elements from Hip Hop, jazz and Indie and produce an album that is innovative, unique and fresh.

The album features De La Soul who can be heard on the hit Feel Good Inc.

Neneh Cherry supports the album by appearing on the track Kids With Guns and so does Shaun on the hit track DARE, although he doesn't really get past announcing the title of the song.

Now That's What I Call Love 2006
With Valentine's Day being celebrated last week, it wouldn't have been a bad idea to have the album with you in the car while on your way to that fancy restaurant.

What? Romance went wrong? No Problem! This CD also has a couple of tracks for those who were unfortunate last week in love.

Anyways? back to the review. The album starts with the soon-to-perform-in-Dubai artist Robbie Williams and his track Advertising Space. You will also find James Blunt and his very passionate hit You're Beautiful.

I didn't quite get why EMI added Craig David's track All The Way. Don't get me wrong, I like Craig David but this particular track, in my opinion, doesn't really go with the obvious "love" theme of the album.

But, it was nice hearing a track from the emerging new artist KT Tunstall. Her track Other Side Of The World is simply and very sensual.

The album also features Coldplay - Fix you, Daniel Powter - Bad Day, and even Simon Webbe - No Worries. There is a very interesting compilation of hit songs on this album, definitely one that won't leave behind the impression that it is "mushy mushy".

Simon Webbe: Sanctuary
Yes, I admit, I like this album a lot! And yes I also admit that I was referring to it in the message! When I first heard that Simon Webbe is going solo and producing his own album, I was like "Oh oh!" but I was impressed! Simon was able to showcase a softer more soulful part of him.

No Worries is currently in the charts and that's no surprise if you do listen to the lyrics and music of the song.

In addition to the previously mentioned track, I wouldn't be shocked to know that more tracks such as Lay Your Hands, After All This Time and A Little High will secure themselves on radio charts.

Simon co-wrote all the tracks and through the lyrics, you can definitely feel that he has matured. This album will definitely grab the attention of all R&B, pop and country music listeners.

Audio Bullys
This one is difficult to criticise. This is an electronic album, a genre not very digestible to many in this country. However, you can't deny that the DJs, have produced a number of quite interesting tracks such as Keep On Moving and I'm In Love.

There is also a remix of Nancy Sinatra's track Shot You Down, which I think is inspiring to me as a DJ. This album will definitely appeal to electronic music fans, some Hip-Hop fans and definitely anyone who is looking for a fresh different style.
