Abu Dhabi: Briton Adam Man-Cheung can’t believe his unexpected change of fortune.
The 31-year-old Dubai resident recently won a one-year free stay in a deluxe king room at Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi, including buffet breakfast for two at the hotel.

Man-Cheung who stays in a two-bedroom unit in Dubai Marina, said, “I’ve got two homes now for a year.”

The human resource consultant from Kent said he couldn’t believe his ears when he was told about the win worth about Dh400,000, which also includes two year-long passes to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and the newly-opened Yas Waterworld.

“I was in shock, in total disbelief when I heard about it. I thought one of my friends had been playing a prank on me.”

Man-Cheung was picked from among thousands who had participated in a competition held by Entertainer magazine and Yas Viceroy. He said the win came at a perfect time.

“My dad is over this week from Dammam (Saudi Arabia) — so we will spend some bonding time together. I’d love to bring my family over from the UK to stay a couple of nights with me at the hotel.”

Yas Viceroy boasts 499 rooms and suites, an award-winning spa, two rooftop pools and 12 food and beverage outlets.

As part of his job at a Dubai headhunting firm, Man-Cheung also works in their Abu Dhabi office. “Since I work in Abu Dhabi every Tuesday, I might stay there on Monday and Tuesday nights,” said the thrilled man who’s been in the UAE for nearly four years. Man-Cheung will be writing about his experiences throughout the year with pictures and reviews. He plans to start staying in the hotel this week for at least two nights on weekdays and on weekend nights.
