A big battle of words between Syrian singer Assala Nassri and Egyptian composer Helmi Bakr has turned into a major issue. The whole thing started when Bakr commented on the singer's rendition of one of his favourite songs Alli Gara. She had performed the number with the popular Tunisian singer Saber Al Rubaie.

Not known to keep her mouth shut whenever there's a controversy involving her, Assala attacked the composer by saying he's no good, although it was Bakr who set off her career.

Following the verbal exchange, the two have now decided to go to court. Bakr has filed a complaint which could result in her being banned from singing in Egypt.
