Woman detained for attempting break-in at Jungkook's home
BTS's Jungkook returned with much fanfare from military service on June 11, with his fellow bandmate Jimin. However, the festivities were quickly overshadowed by a disturbing incident involving an obsessive fan.
According to The Korea Times, a woman in her 30s was arrested by Yongsan police late on June 11, after allegedly attempting to break into Jungkook’s Seoul apartment within hours of his release from mandatory military service
Police reports reveal the woman repeatedly tried to input the door passcode around 11:20 pm., triggering a neighbour's alarm and prompting officers to arrive and detain her. In custody, she admitted traveling to South Korea specifically to meet Jungkook upon his discharge. Authorities are now investigating whether this was isolated or part of a broader stalking pattern
BTS is no stranger to saesangs, which is a term for obsessive fans in Korean. Jungkook had expressed his annoyance with this kind of behavior before enlistment, once stating during a livestream: “Even now, there are sasaengs in front of my house. Don’t come. Don’t cross the line."
Earlier on June 11, Jungkook and fellow BTS member Jimin concluded their military service, joining RM and V, who had been discharged the day before. The duo expressed their gratitude during their first media address, with Jungkook admitting, “It’s been so long since I’ve been in front of a camera, I’m embarrassed. I don’t know what to say.”
By June 21, Suga will join the rest of the members too.
