A filmmaker is born only when he finds a producer for his story. More so if the story does not fit into the conventional template and does not boast of a star. Standing tall in its tenth year is J.Satish Kumar, producer of notable hits and award-winning Tamil films. Under his banner, JSK Film Corporation, he turned Vijay Sethupathi into a star overnight with Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom, while director Balaji Dharanidaran was welcomed with open arms.

Actress Lakshmi Ramakrishnan turned director with Arohanam, a critically acclaimed film, another JSK production. Besides this, other JSK productions, Tamil films Paradesi Kutram Kadithal and Thangameenkal won national awards.

Satish Kumar who has earned a reputation for that eye to notice path-breaking stories is ready with another film, Andava Kaanom. With its quirky title, which means ‘Large Vessel Missing’, surely there is more to the film than meets the eye.

On the occasion of their tenth-year celebrations held in Chennai, JSK Film Corporation released the music and trailer of Andava Kaanom.

Sriya Reddy, of Thimiru fame, is back on screen after nine years with this film, adding more to the expectations. Written and directed by newcomer Velmadhi, this story is about a large vessel that goes missing in this village of around 200 people.

Dharanidharan, (one of the ten directors launched by JSK) thanked Kumar for standing by his film Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom, and releasing it without any cuts when other distributors insisted on trimming the film by twenty minutes.

Director Ram revealed that the censorboard wanted to give his upcoming film Tharamani a U/A certificate only after fourteen cuts.

“But it was Sathish Kumar who boldly said it’s ok to get an ‘A’ certificate but there should not be any cuts,” said Ram who won the Indian National award with Thangameenkal. “Such is his passion and judgment.”
