Aiko Melendez wins in London

Actress Aiko Melendez bagged another acting trophy when she won the Best Actress in a Foreign Language Film award at the International Filmmakers Festival of World Cinema held recently in London.

She was recognised for her sterling performance in the film Asintado (Between The Eyes) directed by Louie Ignacio.

Melendez was, however, not able to attend the festival to personally receive her award, her first international accolade.

A respected actress locally, Melendez won against Anqi Liu (China) for Belief, Shahana Chatterjee (India) for Picnic, Lala Forte for Distanza, and Vilhena Paulo for (Des) Encontros.
