Noted playwright and lyricist Ali Moeen has got another reason to be proud of: His young, multitalented daughter Fatima Ali is getting great reviews for her first single Pakistan Mein Pakistan Nahin Milta, which he wrote.
It’s a song that resonates well with the natives who are saddened by the country’s present situation. The 17-year-old’s perfectly-pitched voice lends fair credence to the theme in a video that is shot rather too simply and also features daddy cool.
This isn’t the first time the father-daughter duo have worked together on a project. Ali earlier appeared as a child star in telefilm Aik Aadh Hafta, which was scripted by Moeen. Her singing debut happened when she recorded a cover of Nazia Hassan’s famous number Dil Ki Lagi. She also dabbles in painting and poetry; her anthology of poems, titled If, is due out soon. As she prepares to enroll at Sterling University, Scotland, for a graduate programme in film, media, and literature, Ali has already finished work on her next single, which celebrates the legacy of mysticism, from Rumi to Khusro and Iqbal.
