Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan to marry Natasha Dalal on Sunday: What you need to know

Wedding bells are ringing in the Dhawan household as 'Jug Jug Jeeyo' star Varun Dhawan gets ready to tie the knot with long-time girlfriend, fashion designer Natasha Dalal. The nuptials are reportedly set to happen next week. “The wedding will be on January 24 as per Hindu rituals in presence of family and close friends in Alibaug. The pre-wedding functions will start from January 22,” a source was quoted as saying by PTI.

Dhawan and his girlfriend Dalal are childhood sweethearts. Their friendship turned into an unbreakable relationship when they met at a music concert years later. Dhawan spoke about their relationship on a radio show last year, hosted by Kareena Kapoor Khan. “She [Dalal] rejected me some 3-4 times. The upcoming wedding is reportedly a small affair, by Bollywood standards at least, with only close friends and family in attendance. But, well, it is a Bollywood do and the friends are bound to be big names – think Shah Rukh Khan, Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Malaika Arora.

The wedding will set up bio-bubble of sorts with safety measures for those attending. Bride, groom and guests will be staying at a resort in Alibau.

They are doing things traditional though. A day before they head to Alibaug, the Dhawan family will reportedly visit the Dalal residence with jewellery, gifts and a red bridal outfit. And so will commence the chunni chadana ceremony, which sees the mother-in-law place a red stole over the daughter-in-law’s head. They are expected to leave for Alibaug on January 22.

One question that’s on everyone’s mind is, who will design a designer’s wedding dress? Well, in this case Dalal has taken the onus on herself. Dhawan, meanwhile, will be outfitted by Kunal Rawal as per reports.

The couple have planned a wedding at sunset, followed by a grand reception in Mumbai, which is sure to have a list of Bollywood celebrity couples, including Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra-Kiara Advani.

An insider was quoted by PTI saying the wedding was originally planned for May 2020 but due to the COVID-19 pandemic it was pushed to 2021.

On the work front, Dhawan will be seen in 'Jug Jug Jeeyo' alongside Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor and Kiara Advani. But first, the honeymoon.
