Your last chance to catch the Sharjah Light Festival

Sharjah: If you haven't seen the fancy night scenes that form part of the Sharjah Light Festival, tonight (Friday) is your best hope.

Public buildings, mosques, universities and even markets are illuminated in beautiful eye-catching colours. The event kicked off on February 4, Thursday night. It runs till tonight.

The festival offers a distinctive blend of lights-and-sounds show to create various designs using latest light techniques to display different artwork on major buildings in the city, highlighting the historical heritage of Sharjah and its Islamic architecture.

This year, the sixth edition of the festival, presents several surprises and new creative designs. 

The festival, from February 4 to 13, came under the theme "Travel Across Time" , and had expanded its reach to new locations from previous festival.

The locations for this year’s festival include:

The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), the prime mover behind the festival, said the glowing light will illuminate other major buildings and tourist landmarks such as:

Al Qasba (Internal Facades),

Masjid Al Taqwa (Al Majaz Waterfront), 

Al Majaz Amphitheatre, 

Cultural Square,

Masjid Al Noor,

Sharjah University – Khor Fakkan, and

Masjid Ammar Bin Yasser in Al Dhaid
 

Over the year, the Sharjah Light Festival has come to occupy a prominent position in the calendar of events in the region, attracting thousands of visitors and families every year from inside and outside the UAE.
