Two projects on Dubai's culture make it to the top

Dubai: Twenty-five employees at the Executive Council, Prime Minister's Office, the Mohammad Bin Rashid Foundation, Dubai Women's Establishment and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority developed five projects to support Dubai's future growth and sustainability.

Their projects are part of the Elite Programme designed by the Mohammad Bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development (MBRPLD), wherein five teams studied Dubai's growth, quality of life, culture and traditions, women's participation and environmental stability.

They then provided recommendations on how to resolve problems related to them.

Two projects related to innovation and strengthening Dubai's culture made it to the top.

Fatima Al Khouri, who works at the Competitiveness Department at the Prime Minister's Office, introduced her team's project, which emphasises the importance of creativity and innovation to stir future economic growth.

Second-place winner was an examination of ways of maintaining Dubai's heritage, culture and national identity.

"We proposed the establishment of the Dubai National Identity Agency, which would take care of those issues by implementing positive policies," said Shumous Bin Fares, who works at the Executive Office's Finance Department.

Mohammad Al Hawi, of the Prime Minster's Office, shared the findings of their survey which showed that people were dissatisfied with the quality of life, including traffic, healthcare and education.

The fourth project focused on establishing an environmental authority and launching a campaign under the slogan "You" to urge people to be take part in saving the environment.

"Dubai's fast growth left the environment behind. There was no planning, budgeting or awareness of the importance of the environment, so we propose this authority to tackle this issue on a national level," he said.

The last project stressed the importance of including women in all levels of management.

Adel Al Shared, MBRPLD Director said: "After measuring the satisfaction and the evaluation of participants on the programme, we can certainly say it was very beneficial."
