Abu Dhabi: Hundreds of book lovers of all ages have made use of the chance to look up some old favourites and pick up some new ones from the MV Logos Hope ship that has docked at the Abu Dhabi Port.

The floating book fair, which will run until February 19, is organised by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (Adach) and is held under the patronage of Shaikh Sultan Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of Adach.

"We have been visiting the region and the UAE for many years now. Our most recent voyages to the Middle East were in December 2010, when we visited Egypt and Lebanon. Our sister ship, Doulos, visited Abu Dhabi in 2005. We've already visited Dubai before docking here and afterwards, we will be travelling to Qatar, Bahrain, Sri Lanka and India," Andrea Choi, Project Manager, Logos Hope, said.

The ship's selection boasts over 7,000 titles cover a wide range of subjects and genres, mainly in English with a variety available in Arabic as well. In addition, both the ship and Adach have organised a wide variety of cultural activities, such as traditional Emirati dances and a special performance night by the 400 volunteer crew and staff, representing 50 different nationalities.

Over 40 million visitors have visited the Logos Hope and its sister ships since they were launched in 1970.
