Abu Dhabi: More than 30 artists representing a diverse range of cultures and media are participating in the Ghaf Art Gallery's latest exhibition, "Guess the Artist", which opened yesterday.

The exhibition, curated by Emirati digital artist Sumayyah Al Suwaidi, includes artworks with various themes and images but without a name or title.

Each measures 21cm x 29cm, and is priced at Dh1,000.

Sumayyah, who is also taking part, said: "I wanted to do something fun, especially since it's the beginning of 2011 and we are already worried about the events that are currently occurring.

"It's also a great way to bring the community under one roof to a space where they can appreciate the art being presented instead of liking it simply for the sake of the name behind it," Sumayyah said.

The participants range from newcomers to established artists from Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Nabeel Al Muhairbi, an Emirati-British artist who works at the Cataloguing Department of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (Adach), said: "I've contributed three pieces for the exhibition, all of which I created within one month…this is a great concept because it helps to generate interest among visitors and allows them to appreciate the artworks based on factors other than the name attached to them".
