I began collecting art at the age of 15. I started with small affordable pieces and slowly, as I developed a better understanding of art, my interest in master works grew. I also married an avid collector, and our combined efforts over the years built a sizeable collection that I thought should now be shared with others," says Tatiana Faure.

And so began the ProArt Gallery's journey.

Located in the Palm Strip Mall, the gallery recently opened its doors to the public with an impressive launch. The 7,000 square feet area has been sectioned into various display spaces, some of them titled and endowed with a specific purpose, such as the Black Room, an area carpeted in suede from the floor to the walls and dedicated solely to masterpieces.

The gallery is filled with founder and managing director Tatiana's painstakingly, curated personal collection comprising of contemporary, modern and impressionist art pieces, original lithographs and sculptures from the masters such as Nadal, Picasso, Dali, Chagall and more.

Tatiana wants the gallery to be so much more than a place to acquire art. "It should be a place to educate people about good artists and masters. I want to arrange a series of talks and exhibitions by local and international artists." Last month, experts in lithography gave a lecture on original lithographs. "We are still in the process of introducing works by masters, since the gallery is relatively new."

However, future plans include bringing fresh, promising, local talent. "Dubai is a melting pot of nationalities and so a meeting point for artists with different styles and aspirations. It is these differences, I feel, that make Dubai's art scene interesting and challenging."
