Dubai: Arab Idol’s Palestinian winner Mohammad Assaf will make a concert in Dubai his first performance following his landslide win of the singing contest on Saturday night.
Assaf will perform on August 15, sharing the stage with runners-up Ahmad Jamal from Egypt and Syrian Farah Yousef.
“I will carry a message of love and peace to the Arab world and to the whole globe,” Assaf told tabloid! in an exclusive interview Sunday morning.
“I will carry the just Palestinian cause to the world”.
“Assaf represents the embodiment of hope and ambition,” said Mazen Hayek, MBC group’s official spokesperson.
Referring to the difficult circumstances in which Assaf was raised in under occupation, oppression and harsh living conditions in a refugee camp Hayek added to Gulf News, “He [Assaf] never surrenders”.
Asked about the number of votes which put Assaf at the top, Hayek said he can’t reveal numbers, “but all I can say is that his votes were in millions, and there is a considerable difference with the second contender”.
