This two-season tragicomedy follows the story of a witty woman, Fleabag, as she navigates life and love in London. Hilariously dark, the British show shines for its honest representation of grief and healing.

Our titular protagonist is played by the writer and creator of the show herself, English comedian and actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, whose series bagged 11 nominations and six Emmy awards after its second and final season aired in 2019.

2. Nine Perfect Strangers

Starring Nicole Kidman, Manny Jacinto, Regina Hall and more, ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’ is an American mystery series of eight episodes that premiered in 2021. Like many of our favourite thrillers, the show is based off a best-seller novel by the same name, the work of Australian author Liane Moriarty.

‘Nine Perfect Strangers’ is a gathering of nine wealthy city dwellers at a remote Californian spa retreat. They are guided by hostess Masha (Kidman), who goes above and beyond to ‘heal’ her guests.

3. Upload (Amazon Original)

If you’re a fan of sitcoms ‘The Office’ and ‘Parks and Recreation’, then there is a good chance you’ll enjoy the sci-fi comedy drama ‘Upload’ – all co-written by the same award-winning screenwriter, Greg Daniels.

Daniels imagines a future in ‘Upload’ where people can choose to live a digital life after death. The story follows Nathan, played by Robbie Amell, who is coming into his new form of consciousness at a luxurious virtual resort. The show is an on-going series, with season two slated for release, according to Amazon Studios.

4. Cruel Summer

Amazon brings you a 1990's psychological teen thriller in 2021 that takes place over the course of three summers. When the most popular girl in town goes missing, another shy teenage girl rises as the new queen bee, who then becomes the most hated teen in America. ‘Cruel Summer’ will leave you in splits with its double narrative, not knowing which of the two leads to believe.

5. The Wilds (Amazon Original)

Much like a teen version of the popular castaway series ‘Lost’, Amazon’s ‘The Wilds’ begins with a fated plane crash on a deserted island. Only one of the nine teenage girls lives to tell their story, and why it was no mere coincidence.

6. Mumbai Diaries 26/11 (Amazon Original)

Garnering rave ratings on Prime Video is a Hindi-language medical thriller ‘Mumbai Diaries 26/11’, starring Kankona Sen Sharma, ‘Sense8’ actor Tina Desai, Mohit Raina and more. One devastating night of endless medical emergencies unfolds over six episodes, set against the backdrop of 2008 Mumbai attacks.

7. Hanna (Amazon Original)

A critically acclaimed American period drama set in the ‘50s and ‘60s, ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ (pictured above) chronicles Midge Maisel’s journey to stardom – in stand-up comedy. Watch the upper class New York housewife completely one-up her ex-husband’s comic career with her own gigs and find her voice.
