Genesis is launching its first ever SUV, the GV80, at the Super Bowl and its ad campaign for the massive audience will star none other than star musician John Legend and social media phenomenon Chrissy Teigen.
The TV spot will air on February 2 during the second quarter of Super Bowl LIV where the celebrity spokes-couple will introduce the recently unveiled model which Genesis is positioning as “Young Luxury”.
The spot promises to generate a lot of smiles judging from the cheeky teasers released by Genesis.
"Launching GV80 in North America during the Super Bowl offers us exponential visibility for the Genesis brand at the national, and to some extent global, level," said Mark Del Rosso, Chief Executive Officer, Genesis Motor North America. "With John and Chrissy showcasing their signature charm, we will give our first SUV the running room to compete and win."
Del Rosso continued, "Launching our first SUV with amazing support from John and Chrissy in our first Super Bowl spot became the perfect time to launch our new "Young Luxury" brand campaign and is indicative of our desire at Genesis to ignite exploration in everyone by infusing all that we do with the spirit of youth and wonder. Genesis is the youngest luxury automotive brand, why not act our age and have a little fun?"
The GV80, which joins the G70, G80 and G90 saloons, is based on a rear-wheel-drive platform with all-wheel drive as an option. It’s been launched in the home market of South Korea with a Genesis-exclusive, 278 horsepower 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine, however, two turbocharged petrol engines will be available in the GV80 for other markets. The interior, which features a huge 14.5in split-screen infotainment system, is elegant and understated.
