Time to channel your inner Hoff because here’s your chance to own KITT from TV show Knight Rider!

Unbutton your shirt, don a big curly wig, pull on your leather jacket and channel your inner David Hasselhoff, folks, because here’s your chance to own KITT, the talking car and star of the classic 80’s TV show Knight Rider!

The show spanned four seasons and starred the Hoff as crime-fighter Michael Knight and his sidekick - a talking car!

And, this isn’t any old replica either, it was owned by the late, legendary car builder George Barris making this 1982 Trans Am extra special!

This Pontiac was bought by the late car customizer in 1996 and it is the first of its kind to be offered directly from his collection since he passed away in 2015.

The replica was used at car shows, events, and appearances around the US. Barris, a huge fan of the TV show which starred the Hoff as crime-fighter Michael Knight, actually built the Super Pursuit KITT for the final season of the series.

He acquired this Firebird over 23 years ago and it is now the first TV + Movie Car that is being sold directly to the public from the Barris Collection.

The iconic car has had a major tune up including new tyres and suspension bushings and is ready to hit the road, but, unlike the TV show would have you believe, it can’t actually do any of those clever things such as drive by itself, fire rockets or perhaps best of all, print money…

It has 5,000 miles (8,050km) on the odometer and features all of the conversions of the real TV car – and that includes the red scanner on the nose, mirror-black paint, 15in wheels, and of course the electronic instrument panel housing a lot of buttons! It even has the correct tan-colour seats while the ‘Barris Kustom’ badges on the body are nice touches.

It is far cheaper than the actual cars used for filming, of which only five from 20 in total are now believed to exist.

Powering this Trans Am is a 5.0-litre V8 which was only good for around 150 horses – but the best thing about this replica is that the motor is mated not to a four-speed automatic like they all tend to have but a five-speed manual! KITT was super smart and so even he should have been able to have rowed through those gears without stalling…
