BYD rises to 11th place among the best-selling car brands in the Asian country

Manila: BYD is taking the Philippine auto market by storm, clocking in a staggering 8,900 per cent growth in 2024.
With 4,780 passenger vehicles sold, the brand now holds an 82 per cent share of the electrified vehicle (EV) market and leads the country in battery-electric vehicle (BEV) sales with a 69 per cent market share.
Best-seller
The best-selling BYD Sealion 6 DM-i stole the show with 2,669 units sold, while the Seagull, Dolphin, Atto 3, T3, Seal, Han, and Tang added 2,078 more to the tally.
This meteoric rise pushed BYD to 11th place among the best-selling car brands in the Philippines, right behind Kia (also under ACMobility) and ahead of Foton Motor Philippines, Top Gear Philippines reported.
Milestone
BYD’s success isn’t just local — globally, the company set a new record, selling 4,272,145 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in 2024, marking a 41.26 per cent increase from 2023.
This is the first time BYD has crossed the 4-million-unit mark in a single year.
BYD Cars Philippines Managing Director Bob Palanca shared his excitement: "2024 is a pivotal year for BYD in the Philippines. This success reflects our team’s dedication, the unwavering support of our dealer partners, and most importantly, the trust of our valued customers. Together, we’re driving the Philippines toward a smarter, greener future."
BYD Philippines Country Head Aiffy Liu echoed this enthusiasm, highlighting plans to sustain momentum in 2025 and beyond:
"With ACMobility, we are committed to making BYD’s global models more accessible to Filipinos. We will continue delivering innovative and affordable electric vehicles to meet the country’s growing demand for sustainable mobility."
BYD’s rapid growth isn’t just about sales — it’s also about accessibility. From just two dealerships at the start of 2024, the company closed the year with 25 nationwide, and an ambitious expansion to 52 locations is already underway for 2025.
With more dealerships and charging stations rolling out, BYDs aren’t just coming to Philippine roads — they’re here to stay.
