Car customizing is big business and with Bugatti saying it can make virtually any requests come true, more than two-thirds of customers have taken the carmaker up on the offer by having their limited edition Bugatti Divo hypercars personalized. Some are subtle, some are rather lough - but no two cars will look the same as each other and now Bugatti has revealed four bespoke configurations that have been ordered by customers.

Since the options are virtually limitless, customers travel to Molsheim where a specialized team helps to turn their dream into reality. As part of this process, a designer and technician helps them to configure their vehicle.

“Some customers might know exactly what they want. But we also have customers whom we advise in detail, we work together with them and come up with suggestions,” explains sales coordinator Anne Beynat.

Client requests can include almost anything from national flags to their very own logos - or even have the interior leather to match their favourite handbag or shoes. However, these special requests can take months to make happen.

The Divo’s paint job can be extensively customized and buyers can order everything from vintage leather to modern leather that matches the paintwork.

It can take up to four months to develop a new colour, nine months for a new leather and up to a year for a new carbon interior. According to Bugatti President Stephan Winkelmann, “Every Divo is absolutely unique, [and] the ultimate form of luxury.” It features a quad-turbocharged 8.0-litre W16 engine that produces 1,479 horsepower.

Bugatti noted preferences vary by region and the Asian market favors unusual colours such as transposed paint schemes. Europeans are a bit more conservative, while Americans and Middle Easterners like “eye-catching and extravagant colour combinations.”

When it comes to the Divo, Bugatti says one customer worked with the design team for more than a year to customize their ride. Unsurprisingly, he can “hardly wait to receive his very personalized Divo.”
