Bomber blew up car when police wanted to search it at the checkpoint in Peshawar
Peshawar: Officials say a suicide car bomber has killed 11 people, including four children, in northwest Pakistan.
It is the latest in a string of militant attacks seeking suspension of military campaign in their heartland near Afghan border.
The city police chief, Liaqat Ali Khan, said the suicide car bomber targeted a police checkpoint on the outskirts of the main northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar.
Government official Sahibzada Muhammad Anis says the suicide bomber blew up the explosive-laden car on Saturday when police wanted to search it at the checkpoint on the outskirts of the city.
A massive truck bombing at the regional headquarters of Pakistan's top intelligence agency killed 10 people in the city on Friday.
