I'd like to bring to the attention of the authorities the recent trend of people parking cars irresponsibly in the Al Nahda area of Sharjah where I live.

Parking is at a premium here as there are buildings being constructed on every available empty space without adequate parking facilities being provided for tenants, forcing many of us to park in privately owned parking spaces at a rate of Dh100 per month.

I have two cars in such spaces opposite my building. However, there are people who park in our parking lot without paying for a space and block other cars.

As seen in the photograph, there are two 32-seater buses parked right in front of a group of cars — they are not authorised to park there. Also, right in front of my car, a van has been parked, and right next to the van there are four-wheel drives and cars owned by people who aren't renting parking spaces.

In this scenario, where there's an emergency or when people have to go to work, how would motorists leave the parking area? Is it fair for tenants who would have paid for parking to have their way blocked by others?

I would, therefore, request the authorities to take appropriate action against such irresponsible drivers who are parking where they're not authorised to do so, and blocking other tenants' vehicles.
