Dubai: South Indian actress Kalpana, 51, died on Monday reportedly due to a cardiac arrest in Hyderabad. The actress, who was known for her comic timing as well as character roles, was in Hyderabad to attend an awards function.

According to reports, she was found unconscious in a hotel room by a hotel staff on Monday morning and died before she reached the hospital. The post mortem is yet to be conducted.
The award-winning actress, who was recently seen in the blockbuster Charlie, embraced roles that resonated with the middle class milieu.
She started her career as a child artiste and her breakthrough role was in the director M T Vasudevan Nair’s Manje.
The sister of actress Urvashi has acted in over 300 films, including Kerala Café, and has received awards including the National Award for the Best Supporting actress in 2012 for Thanichalla Njan.
