Shah Rukh Khan says his comments on Pakistan team caused ''an unfortunate situation'' for his latest film but hails support of co-stars

Abu Dhabi: Shah Rukh Khan said his comments on the inclusion of Pakistani team players in the Indian Premier League caused "an unfortunate situation" for his My Name Is Khan (MNIK) co-stars, but maintained that it was his personal opinion.
"It is an unfortunate situation that I unnecessarily got Karan [Johar, the director], Fox Searchlight and others in the team into such a situation," the Bollywood movie star said ahead of the world premiere of his film in the capital on Wednesday. "But they have been very supportive. They feel for me and have supported me through out this... I am not gloating or anything. But it is just a normal stand. I just hope better sense prevails for everybody."

The actor and those involved with his much-anticipated film have come under attack by Mumbai-based political party Shiv Sena following Khan's comments about including Pakistani cricket players in the India Premier League. Bal Thackeray, the party chief, has said his party will not allow the film to be screened in the city until Khan apologies, prompting violent protests outside theatres planning to show the film when it releases in there on Friday.
But despite the dark clouds hovering around the film's release, Bollywood's terrific threesome – Khan, Johar and co-star Kajol – were in a jolly mood as they fielded questions from the press in the UAE.
"We are like family. We understand each other so well and have immense trust in each other's abilities as actors," says Khan. In MNIK – a love story set against the backdrop of post-9/11 America, Khan plays a man afflicted with Asperger's, a mild form of autism who sets out to meet the US President. The film spells the reunion of Kajol, Khan and Johar after their hit Kabhi Khushie Kabhie Gham in 2001.
