Abu Dhabi: Imagine staying at a plush five-star hotel and paying what you please.
Janah Burj Al Sarab, the new luxury hotel on Mina Street in Abu Dhabi’s Al Zahiyah district, is taking the business axiom ‘customer is king’ to a new high by asking guests to decide how much they want to pay for their stay.
“We had a soft launch of ‘you pay what you think it is worth’ offer during the Eid holidays and the response was really good,” said Richard G. Haddad, vice president of operations.
Mixed response
“Some customers paid less than what we thought they would; some paid a reasonable amount while many exceeded our expectations,” Haddad said.
But in the hospitality business where tastes and priorities of customers vary widely, isn’t it a huge business risk?
“It certainly is,” Haddad said. “But we took the risk and it paid off. This unique experiment proved one thing: customers are not comfortable paying less for a service they are happy about. We are not compromising on quality. This offer simply rides on our confidence that we give our customers the best,” he said.
Buoyed by the success of the ‘pay as you please’ promotion launched during Eid, Janah Burj Al Sarab is extending the unique offer throughout summer.
Depending on availability of rooms, people can take up the offer on specific days when they book a bed and breakfast package.
The price of a single room is Dh300 per night while its penthouse suite will set you back by Dh8,000.
The five-star hotel has 318 rooms and suites. Other amenities include an all-day restaurant, spa, and rooftop fitness and leisure facilities.
The hotel also features 224 deluxe rooms, 66 junior suites, 22 executive suites, four three-bedroom penthouses, two two-bedroom penthouses, as well as royal suites in two- and three-bedroom configurations.
The new hotel is the fifth Al Jannah property in the UAE.
