Welcome to our new website. We’ve had a bit of a makeover. Well, you know, when you get to 40 sometimes it’s good to get fit, stay healthy and take a new look at life.

It’s never easy changing a design people have become used to, but, on the anniversary of our 40th year at Gulf News, we felt it was time we modernised the design, speed and overall user experience of the site.

What’s new?

Sleek new design — less clutter than the old site, easier to see content and more pleasing on the eye, especially on mobile.

Powerful search - search for anything on the site and get results in nanoseconds. What’s more, over the next few months it will learn how you and others search, giving predictive results.”

- Jonathan Richards, Group Digital Strategy Director

Better sections — Travel, Going Out, Food, How To sections not only look good but are searchable.

We’ve tried to make it a lot easier to search.

Find the perfect recipe or get a great holiday.

Useful — our restaurants section makes it easier to find the perfect one that suits your taste and budget.

Our How To section will grow over time to be the most indispensable, authoritative guide to your UAE life available in this region.

Powerful search — search for anything on the site and get results in nanoseconds.

What’s more, over the next few months it will learn how you and others search, giving predictive results.

Single sign-on, notifications and newsletters — single sign-on means signing up to newsletters, competitions and more will be so much easier from any Gulf News service.

We can get the latest news or advice direct to you however you like it.

You spoke, we listened.

Bringing you the latest breaking news is just the start — in-depth analysis, lifestyle advice and the ultimate guide to your UAE life is our aim.

We wanted a site that can bring you the power of visual storytelling, explainers and easy to digest stories on mobile. In the past the old site hid away much of our best (and most engaged with content).

Thank you to people from user groups who offered their response and time.

Initial testing told us a lot about what people want from our website. But the improvement doesn’t stop here.

We’ll never stop listening or improving this site.

Of course, we can’t always incorporate every individual need but we will be making the site an ever better experience with more to come for personalisation, chatbots that will learn what you need, a new app, augmented reality and much more.
