Dubai: International airlines will be able to check the credibility of their passengers' entry permits to Dubai before their departure, a top official at Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) told Gulf News.

It is one of the streamlined services that the DNRD is set to unveil at the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (Gitex) 2009 which begins on Sunday.

In an attempt to sustain security measures and prevent fake visa rackets, there will be an e-link between the DNRD and international airlines, Major General Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, Director-General of DNRD, said.

"World airline companies will have access to the DNRD system to check the authentication of the Dubai entry permit for all their passengers at the time the ticket is booked."

This service offered by DNRD will bring an end to the notion of fake visas, Al Merri added.

In line with its strategy to facilitate access to its services across Dubai and to simplify procedures for residents and nationals, DNRD will also unveil up-to-date versions of its e-services during Gitex. These include the self-service kiosk, an e-link between Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and DNRD, Barq, and Mobile Services.

Quality services

Al Merri added: "These services are part of a greater programme by the DNRD to simplify procedures and to utilise the world's most sophisticated data management technology to offer quality services around the clock."

"We are aiming to provide the best services to our customers which will make Dubai residents, traders, visitors and workers enjoy dealing with the DNRD."
