Beijing: UAE karting star Rashid Al Daheri won on his ROK Cup Championship mini class debut in Beijing, China, last weekend.

The 10-year-old qualified from pole to win the first race on day one and followed it up with a second-place finish in race two.

On the second day he came fifth in the warm up and then led from pole to win the second, despite wet conditions.

“It was a great race and I have really enjoyed it,” he said. “It is always a good feeling to win.”

Al Daheri’s coach Fausto Ippoliti said: “It was a great win for Rashid, once again he rose to the occasion and showed his prodigious natural talents, it was a well-deserved victory.

“I was particularly impressed with Rashid’s capacity to rapidly adapt to the changeable weather conditions, setting up the kart to get the pole position very effectively. This shows how he has evolved with experience and drives with a maturity beyond his age.”

Al Daheri’s next event will be in Adria, Italy on September 7-9.
