Dubai: Indian High School (IHS) appeared in all six of the Shuttle Time Dubai Schools Championship Finals at the Dubai World Superseries Finals held at the Hamdan Sports Complex on Sunday, winning three.
IHS won the Girls Under-13, Girls Under-15 and Boys Under-13 divisions, beating The Millenium School, GEMS Our Own English High School and Our Own High School Al Warqa respectively.
They lost the Girls Under-17, Boys Under-15 and Boys Under-17 categories to Our Own English High School, Our Own High School Al Warqa and GEMS Our Own Indian High School.
After competing in the Shuttle Time Dubai Schools Championships in April and October, the teams which had amassed the most points over the year qualified for the finals.
The practice courts in the main arena were transformed into the venue for the Schools Championships, giving the talented youngsters the chance to play in an international standard arena in front of their supporters. And after witnessing the best in the world practice on the courts before playing on the main stage all week, it was a wonderful experience for the aspiring shuttlers to feel part of the prestigious event.
The finalists had a memorable day as they also received pre-match coaching and mentoring from former world number one Peter Gade, and had the chance to meet some of the stars of the game following their competition.
