A full field of 24 ladies competed in the Desert Rose Golfing Society’s (DRGS) final event of 2021, the Christmas Pairs Scramble at Dubai Hills Golf Club on Monday.

The golf was followed by the prize presentation and a Christmas Lunch at the Hill House Restaurant.

Kerstain Drossard-Schumacher and Nicole Mertens took the top prize with a 20 per cent allowance format of the combined handicaps.

Runners-up were Annette Spruit and Ingrid Lin. Other team prize winners on the golf course were Wafa Abuzeid and Dawn Eaton, with Aileen Johnson and Caroline Rosenstock taking home the nearest the pin prizes.

At this highlight event on the DRGS Annual Calendar, one of the main prizes of the day was the Best Dressed Pair Award which was won by Aileen Johnson and Allison Bryant-Melone, voted by a secret ballot.

After all the formalities of the long and enjoyable lunch, it was followed by a Secret Santa exchange of gifts and a raffle hosted by DRGS.

Thanks must be given to Retief Tolkein of Dubai Hills GC and Mark Conway of Hills House Restaurant at the club.

Finally on behalf of Desert Rose Golfing Society, I must thank all our members for their continued support along with all our preferred golf clubs and sponsors who have helped launch this initiative. I am delighted with the progress we have made this year with DRGS since our launch over the summer.

We are creating a genuine ladies golfing community within Dubai and the UAE for both members and non-members of the golf clubs with membership of the Emirates Golf Federation with a valid handicap a stipulation.

We have delivered so many good events, the JA The Resort, Jebel Ali, Order of Merit has attracted good support, we have introduced a nine-hole Par 3 Social once a month at Trump International Golf Club, which includes spouses and we have exciting plans for new events in 2022, which we will announce soon.

A big season’s greeting to all our supporters and Gulf News readers as DRGS takes a short Christmas break and returns to action in the second week of January.

The Desert Rose Golfing Society is supported by the Emirates Golf Federation, Gulf News, BMW, JA Resorts and Hotels, Orient Travel, Golf Superstore, Car Buying People and Mediclinic.
