On behalf of the Desert Rose Golfing Society (DRGS) welcome to 2022.
The year will start with a strong January with many DRGS events attracting our loyal members and the UAE Ladies ICC (Inter Club Challenge), sanctioned by the Emirates Golf Federation, restarting after the New Year break.
DRGS supports the Ladies ICC where and when we can, it is growing every year and is certainly adding a competitive element to the UAE golfing calendar
Most of our lady members have returned from Christmas overseas with family or from their celebrations in the UAE.
The DRGS January Golf Day Calendar is as below:
January 12 — Jumeirah Golf Estates, Fire Course
January 17 — Al Zorah Golf Club, Ajman
January 20 — Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club
January 26 — Trump International Golf Club
The Ladies ICC will be held on Wednesday at the Montgomerie Golf Club featuring a League 4 fixture featuring Trump International, Abu Dhabi GC and the Montgomerie.
The next fixture will be from League 1 hosted on January 19 at Jumeirah Golf Estates on the Earth Course featuring Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, Jumeirah Golf Estates and a team representing the Emirates Golf Federation.
We have just sent out a tender to all the golf clubs in the UAE to host the Grand Final of the Ladies ICC 2021-2022 to be played on March 23. We look forward to the continued support of the UAE golf clubs.
We are all excited with the DP World Tour events happening in the next few weeks in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah and all us DRGS ladies are committed to support as spectators, volunteers, or even hospitality guests if we are really lucky and a few of us have fingers crossed that we maybe on the list of Pro-Am invites.
If you have never been to a DP World Tour event, they are so entertaining, educational and fun, with all three events this year being free to enter, with prior registration. You will not regret it. We are all so lucky here in the UAE to have the world’s best male golfers visit us here.
At DRGS we are creating a genuine UAE wide golfing community for ladies and have ambitious goals for 2022, especially with the growing of our membership involving both golf and other non-golf activities, with the mantra of meeting old and new friends and most importantly having fun around golf and golfers.
The Desert Rose Golfing Society is supported by the Emirates Golf Federation, Gulf News, BMW, JA Resorts and Hotels, Orient Travel, Golf Superstore, Car Buying People and Mediclinic. Membership is open to both members and non-members of the golf clubs with membership of the EGF with a valid handicap a stipulation.
