Abu Dhabi: After unveiling Diego Maradona as the chairman of Dynamo Brest, Dr Taj Eddin Seif, Chairman of the Belarusian Business Council in the UAE and co-owner of Brest announced on Tuesday that their club stadium will be named after Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Founding Father.
Dr Seif revealed that the club’s name has been changed from Regional Sport Complex to Zayed Stadium.
It is also learnt that the seating capacity of the stadium which is currently 10,000 will be increased to 30,000.
“Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has a great influence on sports investment, and his experience with Manchester City encouraged us to invest in sports,” said Dr Seif.
“We intend to use and invest in the UAE players and give them the opportunity to be professional in the team.”
Maradona also expressed his desire to include at least three Emirati players for his new club.
“I will acquire UAE players for my team. Don’t be surprised if tomorrow we have three Emirati players in my team,” he said.
