Madinah's historic Al Faqir Well has reopened to visitors following a comprehensive restoration.

The Saudi Press Agency reports that the Al Faqir Well, a significant 14th-century historical site, is linked to the era of Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him).

Located in the Al Aliyah area of Madinah, the well is surrounded by lush orchards and historically used pulleys for water extraction

Water was originally drawn from the three-meter diameter well using traditional waterwheels, and later pumps were employed. Currently, the well falls under the responsibility of the Al Madinah Region Development Authority and other entities.

In addition to the well itself, the site features a pool and channels that distribute water to nearby orchards. The well is naturally fed by water from the Bathan Valley.

The Saudi Press Agency documented the recently restored landmark. As part of the restoration, there is now a one-meter-high iron fence encircling the well and its channels.

The water channels and main gate were meticulously reinforced using local stone sourced from a volcanic field. Restoration efforts prioritised maintaining the well's original character.

The revamped site is welcoming with the addition of palm trees, a paved and landscaped inner courtyard, and strategically placed stone benches for visitor comfort. An information board at the entrance provides details about the well's location and its history.
