Paul Griffiths has been the driving force behind Dubai’s rise as a global aviation powerhouse. Appointed as the inaugural CEO of Dubai Airports in October 2007, he was tasked with ensuring that Dubai’s airport infrastructure would never limit the growth of its aviation sector—a mission he has pursued with remarkable success. Under his leadership, Dubai International Airport has grown from handling 33.34 million passengers in 2007 to more than 92 million in 2024, cementing its position as the world’s busiest airport for international travel. Griffiths oversaw the opening of Terminal 3 in 2008 and the development of Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai South in 2010, key milestones in expanding Dubai’s global connectivity. Before joining Dubai Airports, Griffiths served as Managing Director of London Gatwick Airport and spent 14 years with Virgin Atlantic, where he worked closely with Sir Richard Branson as a key member of the Virgin Travel Group’s executive team. His extensive experience in customer-centric aviation management has shaped Dubai Airports’ approach to passenger service and operational excellence.
