Spain Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai: Learning through play is one of the easiest ways to get a child to retain a lesson, and this week the kids are getting a master class on recycling. The Spanish Pavilion is organising workshops to educate young people on waste production’s global ramifications and give them solutions on how to reuse things. Participants will use garbage to create puppets all the while not only learning a new skill but also the importance of limiting their waste. Every day, four workshops tackle different materials: paper, plastic, organic and reject materials. Timings: Friday: 10.30 to 11.30am, 12 to 1pm, 3 to 4pm, 4.30-5.30pm; Saturday: 12 to 1pm, 4 to 5pm, 5.30 to 6.30pm; Sunday and Monday: 10.30 to 11.30am, 12 to 1pm, 4 to 5pm, 5.30 to 6.30pm

Apple International Community School: At this three-say workshop in Karama, kids can create a Christmas-themed park complete with Lego Christmas trees, houses, Santa Claus and sledges. Participants can also attend another class on robotics, by Unique World Robotics, a coding and robotics education organisation. Children who attend the free camp not only get a present but also a chance to win free courses worth Dh10,000 via a raffle.

Dubai Safari Park: Kiddos learn about the animal kingdom and all the work a veterinarian does at the winter camp. The park, which is home to about 3,000 animals, will run the camp until December 23 for kids between 8 and 12 years of age. These sessions focus on preserving and protecting nature and aim to instill the values of responsibility, self-reliance and teamwork.

Aventura Parks: At the Life Skills Program, kids aged 6 to 16 will learn a number of new skills through five modules aptly named Adventure, Nature Works, Team Building, Arts and Crafts, and Science Made Fun for youngsters. These young rangers will also get to do a number of cool activities including climbing, ziplining, navigation, shelter building, water conservation, and more. Kids can be enrolled for a day or the whole week – packages are available.

Emirates Palace: Tiny tots aged 5 to 12 can spend a day filled with sports, arts and crafts, thrilling water activities and more at this grand camp that runs until December 30. The camp is on from 8am to 3pm and additional child discounts are available.

OliOli: You don’t even have to get into the experimental museum to experience magic. From December 24 to 30, the OliOli parking lot is being transformed into a fun space celebrating messy play – there are mud cakes, rainbow pop rockets and even paint catapults. Kids will love five fun-filled stations such as bubble lab, paint palooza and splash mania packed with messy experiences and exciting activities. There’s also a grande finale to look forward to - rainbow fireworks and liquid nitrogen explosions run every hour starting from 10.45am to 6.45pm.

The Green Planet: The camp at Dubai’s only in-door rainforest runs until December 29 and offer edutainment-rich activities: kids will learn about animals, plants and ecosystems; they will enjoy animal encounters, bio-dome and sustainable explorations, nature-inspired arts and crafts, and games such as scavenger and treasure hunts. The camp is aimed at children 5 to 10 years of age.
