Syria regime stands isolated

There will be no way out if government insists on disregarding recent developments

Last updated:

The current developments in Syria are serious and it is time for the Syrian regime to accept this reality. It is important for all parties concerned to ensure that the ultimate goal is to maintain the country's unity and stability.

The Arab League will be holding crisis talks on Thursday to discuss Syria's rejection of the League's plan to stop the violence. Syria's Foreign Minister Walid Al Mua'allem criticised the plan and described the League as being a tool that is being used against Syria. Al Mua'allem further added that Syria had proposed amendments to the plan, which was not welcomed by the League.

There is no doubt that the situation in Syria is dangerous. The regime is refusing to abide by any conditional agreement as the killings of protesters continue. But there will be no way out if the regime insists on disregarding the developments taking place around it. As a matter of fact, it stands more isolated today than ever before. Hence, it is important to be fully aware of the fluid situation and the potential aftermath, as it will prove critical for the future of the region.
