Reading should become a habit

The 28th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair 2009 is yet another occasion to emphasise the importance of reading. Inaugurated by His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the book fair is open to the public for 11 days. Sharjah has managed to establish its name in the cultural and educational fields and the fair complements this role.

Yet, as with any cultural event, the involvement of the young generation is critical as they are the future leaders of society. And perhaps one of the biggest challenges today that parents and educators alike are facing is to get children reading at an early stage so that it develops later into a habit. This, of course, is a shared responsibility between educators and parents.
