The decree issued yesterday by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, appointing Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum as Crown Prince of Dubai, comes within this principle.
Under the watchful eyes of his visionary father, the visionary leader whose leadership is credited with transforming Dubai from a sleepy port town on the lower shores of the Arabian Gulf to a global metropolis that competes in development and glamour with the great cities of the world, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad has been groomed to shoulder the responsibility of leading the continuous evolution of the emirate.
More than a year ago, he was appointed as Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, responsible for overseeing Dubai Government entities.
Under his young leadership the council achieved many milestones including the announcement of the Dubai Government Strategy in February 2007, which outlines the roadmap of the emirate's development.
He has also been mandated by the ruler to ensure the implementation of the emirate's mega projects. Two weeks ago Shaikh Hamdan introduced new rules to measure government performance and to improve customer services in state bodies.
Dubai's development journey has been both exciting and challenging. Great results have been achieved in the past two decades. With Shaikh Hamdan assuming a new responsibility, Dubai is on to a new high level of landmark accomplishments.
