Dubai: The Dubai Fitness Challenge is now officially and personally extended to residents of Dubai — with the invite directly coming to their mobile phones.

Du and etisalat users on Wednesday received SMSes from Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, to dare them to take part in the challenge two days before it begins.

“I challenge you to join Dubai Fitness Challenge”, Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the SMS read.

The fitness challenge, which will run from October 20 to November 18, is a citywide event that encourages residents and visitors alike to take part in fitness activities for 30 minutes every day for 30 days.

The challenge is aimed at forming a habit among residents to include fitness and sports in their daily activities, and eventually making it a lifestyle. This is part of the call to make Dubai one of the most active cities in the world.

Earlier, Shaikh Hamdan challenged big government organisations like Dubai Police, Roads and Transportation Authority, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Emirates, among others, all of which accepted the challenge.

Other entities also accepted such as Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Emaar, Nakheel, and a lot more.

The Opening Weekend Carnival starts on Friday at 2pm at Safa Park and boasts of a day full of activities and sports events for all.
