Time does not stop for anyone, but Gulf News readers manage to capture it with the click of a button.

With summer in full swing, many people choose to take their annual leave. In the month of July, Gulf News received several pictures from its readers portraying their memories of the holidays they went on.

Featured reader photographers of the month: July

Three of these were selected as the featured photographers of the month by Sankha Kar, Deputy Picture Editor.

He said: "This platform has allowed many readers, who are interested in photography, to display their hidden talent."

The criteria for selection are composition, perspective, clarity, framing, contrast and light.

Some of the pictures sent by readers revolve around a similar theme, according to Kar.

He said: "I would suggest readers try their own shots. With the pictures they take, they should portray their own imagination."

Today, Gulf News recognises and honours such active readers who have an eye for a picture. The winning readers are asked to send in their best photographs, which are then displayed in a gallery on gulfnews.com.

Herna Barruga, one of the winning photographers, said: "I had no idea that I would be chosen as a featured photographer, as my pictures are very simple and common. Gulf News' decision gives me the motivation to develop my photography skills. Thank you very much."
