The second edition of Portrait of a Nation exhibition is here. Organised by the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation, the Portrait of a Nation II: Beyond Narratives exhibition is being held at Manarat Al Saadiyat from January 21 to April 16.
The exhibition, which is part of Abu Dhabi Festival and has been curated by Roxane Zand and Maya El Khalil, will showcase over 100 artworks from local talents, as well as several exclusive commissions.
Designed to chart the journey of artists and creatives in the UAE, and how the nation helped them develop their skills, the exhibition will feature five themes. These include: Reclaiming/Reimaging Home, Shifting Landscapes, Configurations of Togetherness, Reclaiming/Reimaging Language and Shifting Sociality.
Several important artworks from across the country are on display. These include pieces from Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi; Guggenheim Abu Dhabi; Sharjah Art Foundation; Sharjah Museum and more.
Additionally, there is an audio-video element to the Abu Dhabi Festival. On show will be Emirati director and artist Nujoom AlGhanem’s short film Passage, which made between UAE and Italy. Meanwhile, at the Composers' Platform visitors can indulge in the latest music from talents such as Ihab Darwish’s Hekayat, Cairo Jazz Station and Saudi singer Tamtam among others.
A must-visit for art afficionados.
