Days two and three of Women’s Arab Fashion Week – Couture – Spring Summer 2022 – have had several high points when it comes to regional, local and international designers and labels. The second day saw renowned Indonesian label Hian Tjen, Russian HUmariff, British label Lulu Liu, Polish label Dorota Goldpoint, and Dubai-based Michael Cinco showcase their latest collections.
Hian Tjen is an ESMOD graduate and has created a brand that’s extremely detail oriented. Expectedly, Tjen presented a line that represented his culture with great impact. From two-piece swimsuits to dresses featuring landscape or miniature rural scenes; he didn’t cease to amaze.
Humariff, the popular Russian brand, named after the designer Tamam Humariff, who is known for his exclusive creations which come with unique identification numbers, was at the show.
Next up was Lulu Liu, who graduated from the prestigious London College of fashion is known for her designs that are modern and yet have a conservative artistic style. Gathered ruffles, with feathered details, and sparkling elements were expressed delicately throughout the Lulu’s Spring 2022 collection.
Dubai-based Michael Cinco put on an impressive couture collection, as well. On trend, the bodycon dress with ruffled-flounce sleeves featured floral bejewelled designs was impressive. Additionally, his line also featured two-piece dress sets, with bralettes that were fashioned impeccably, with elbow length gloves, and a sweet white clutch purse.
Moving on to the third day of Women’s Arab Fashion Week – RTW – Fall Winter 2022/23. The proceedings were kicked off by Dubai-based French/Algerian brand Bouguessa, followed by Lebanese label Aboud Jammal, Dubai’s Lebanese label Lili Blanc and French label Weinsanto along with Emirati label Pearla.
Dubai-based French/Algerian brand, Bougessa, is known for its sophisticated and easy-to-wear creations – clothes that are form-flattering and modern in styling. Bougessa also showcased menswear looks, which were mainly sleek and in-tune with the current trend.
On the other hand, for women who crave clothing with assertive lines, and silhouettes, Lili Blanc is the way to go. Sabrina Mouhiedin, the Creative Director of Lili Blanc, has mastered inventive modern silhouettes. While black and white were the dominant colours of her Fall/Winter 2022 collection, the overall feel was exuberant, with several 90’s inspired silhouettes.
Emirati label Pearla, which was founded by the Emirati Creative Directors Hessa and Fatma Ali Aljoker, has its roots in storytelling. While conservative in nature, their range features lovely patterns and adorably feminine silhouettes.
Overall, Pearla’s collection for this upcoming spring is inspirational and uplifting.
