Italian House Valentino has announced that it will be the main sponsor of the Italian Pavilion at The 59th International Art Exhibition of Biennale di Venezia. Backed by Valentino Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli and Chief Executive Officer Jacopo Venturini, the sponsorship will support the curator Eugenio Viola and the artist Gian Maria Tosatti.

This will be for the first time the Italian Pavilion at the Tese delle Vergini in the Arsenale of Venice -- titled History of Night and Destiny of Comets -- will feature a solo artist to represent Italy. The 59th Biennale, The Milk of Dreams, will be curated by Cecilia Alemani.

The Italian Pavilion is also the location where Pierpaolo Piccioli presented his Couture Show in July 2021. Valentino has always encouraged a dialogue with contemporary art and young artists.

Once again Pierpaolo wants to pay a homage to the city of Venice. For the Creative Director, the city exudes art, theatre, music, architecture, cinema, and overflows with creativity. Venice also sits at the intersection of art and fashion, making it a natural choice for the event.

Gian Maria Tosatti and Pierpaolo Piccioli seek to draw inspiration and create a dialogue that will enable them to build a multi vocal community -- a search that is devoted to the ever-changing expressions of artistic sensibility and creativity.

For the event, the curator Eugenio Viola aims to propose a project will deliver a powerful statement on contemporaneity, yet daring interpretation of present times.

Gian Maria Tosatti’s work is largely hailed for its ability to meld a plurality of languages; from literary references to the visual arts, from theater to music and so on.
