London: Paris Fashion Week Womenswear Fall/Winter 2022-2023 opened recently, and day one, as many expected was dominated by the urban luxury brand Off-White. However, the main theme of the opening day was the heartfelt tribute to the late designer and Off-White founder Virgil Abloh.

The Italy-based brand honoured Abloh, who died last year after battling a rare form of cancer. The Fall 2022 collection was the celebrated designer’s last for the popular brand.

Expectedly, the event was star studded with several celebrities paying homage to Abloh. Superstars such as Serena Williams, Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell took to the runway as part of the proceedings. Other stars in attendance included Gigi and Bella Hadid, Karlie Kloss and Kendall Jenner.

The show provided the platform for not just Off-White’s new ready-to-wear collection, as well as the brand’s new luxe line, which was “designed by Virgil and completed by the creative teams and collaborators with whom he worked,” according to the program at the show.

Up first was the ready-to-wear collection, which featured Abloh’s trademark looks featuring cargos, hoodies among other urban apparel. The high-fashion line, meanwhile, showcased 28 looks and featured delicate, painstaking work, including pieces that were meticulously embroidered, as featured hand-crafted veils.

Day two of Paris Fashion Week, will showcase brands such as Botter, Mame Kurogouchi, Victoria/Tomas, Di Petsa, Christian Dior, Dawei, Kimhekim, Ottolinger, Koche, Benjamin Benmoyal and Saint Laurent.
