The Dunhill brand is quintessentially British — so what does that mean for the food at Alfie's?
We've had a sneak peek at the menu, and it's British through and through — but don't worry, we don't mean beans on toast.
Alfie's chef Christopher Driver looks like he's following the trend of refined British comforts.
That translates to a love of nose-to-tail eating — oxtail soup; fried hen's egg with crispy sweetbread and bone marrow; monkfish cheeks — and a focus on meats and fresh seafood (we're delighted at the presence of potted shrimps on the menu).
For mains, there's fish and chips, rabbit pie, haggis and a roasted organic chicken for two.
"The menu is a joint effort by both Dunhill and Jumeirah Emirates Towers. Both companies will strive to ensure the British core of the brand is reflected through the signature dishes," says Nader Elmir, general manager of Alfred Dunhill in the Middle East.
Prices for starters range from Dh60 for a pear, walnut and Ticklemore goat cheese salad to Dh85 for the monkfish; Dh110 for a main of liver and veal meat, Dh125 for the fish and chips and Dh180 for a grilled rib of beef with anchovy butter and chips.
The Dh40 apple and rhubarb crumble sounds like a great finish.
