Dubai: Residents on Wednesday expressed their excitement when they received a text message signed by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

The text messages, which was circulated on social networking sites, invited residents to join the Dubai Fitness Challenge that starts on October 20.

The message was also accompanied with a link where residents can register their names and sign up for the challenge.

The Dubai Fitness Challenge will start at Safa Park on Friday from 1pm until 9pm, and an extra day of activities will also be held on Saturday from 1pm until 7pm.
Shaikh Hamdan announced on October 2 the challenge for citizens, residents and visitors to join the month-long event, which includes free workout classes and activities.
Shaikh Hamdan has also challenged a number of government and private entities, as well as schools to join in, including Emirates, Emaar, the Roads and Transport Authority and GEMS Education Group.
