Rhodes Twenty10 is billed as a steakhouse. Whatever you do, don't dress for a night at a Ponderosa because this is one steakhouse desperate to impress.

A well-considered sleek and chic monochrome colour scheme smacks elegance from the moment you push open the heavy double doors. Everything screams luxury, expense and most of all — high-end.

Sparkling chandeliers and twinkling candles reflect in giant mirrors hung above intimate dining booths and tables. A hint of lilac helps provide a relaxing atmosphere.

Emphasis on sharing

Rhodes Twenty10 is a new generation of culinary grill, where the emphasis is on sharing, bringing family and friends together in sleek and contemporary surroundings.

Michelin-starred celebrity chef Gary Rhodes OBE designed the menu with the aim of putting the customer in control.

The majority of the menu is a plain and simple steak and seafood grillhouse. You pick your steak, they grill it. It's then up to you to pick a sauce and sides from an extensive list.

In Rhodes' own words, "you basically pick what you want to eat rather than us telling you what goes with what".

Signature dishes

Signature dishes include the Rhodes Twenty10 burger made with fillet steak and topped with foie gras, followed by sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce and toffee ice cream.

The pudding I can vouch for, A-Mazing. The burger I can't, although I was tempted. Instead it was a 6oz American fillet steak, done to perfection with a garlic butter sauce. Good — but not something I'd write home about.

The starters, however, were incredible. A potted chicken liver parfait came with grape chutney, toasted brioche and raisin breads — I can honestly say I never had anything quite like it.

In short Rhodes Twenty10 is a great venue with good food which you have to be prepared to pay for.

Rhodes Twenty10 is open from 7pm until midnight Tuesday to Sunday.
