If the Deols believe their joint venture will help salvage their lost glory, then the trio surely are in for a surprise
The Deol clan - dad Dharmendra, sons Sunny and Bobby - have never been acknowledged, even remotely, for their acting abilities, their supremacy has rested entirely on their good looks and well-chiselled bodies. While the father-son duo of Dharmendra and Sunny managed to create an impression, it was Bobby who fizzled out without a trace. And with Yamla Pagla Deewana, the reasons are crystal clear.
If the Deols believe their joint venture will help salvage their lost glory, then the trio surely are in for a surprise. Forget resurrection, this juvenile effort will ruin their image remarkably, cutting down their dwindling fan base even further.
This will go, undoubtedly, into the Deols' hall of shame. While the gags on their respective cinematic images appear affected, and far too many, the Deols' ineptness to tackle comedy appear unintentionally amusing. Surprisingly, it's Sunny who walks away slightly unharmed. It's unforgivable, really, how they've made a veteran like Dharmendra resort to buffoonery to evoke a few laughs. But the butt of all jokes is Bobby, really! Barring a single expression, he doesn't have much to offer. Much like his reel love Kulraj Randhawa.
Considering Karnik has box-office turkeys like Kyun! Ho Gaya Na, Heroes and Vaada Raha to his credit, it'd be unfair to expect him to create a masterpiece with such a dull script. While he packs in everything from romance to item numbers to fight sequences, it just adds to the mess, significantly!
