More than anything else, Suq’s location blew me away. Nestled within Four Seasons Resort on Jumeirah Beach Road, the restaurant overlooks the gardens and just a short walk away, the shoreline hugs the promenade in waves. The sounds of the oud wafting in from the live musician for the night completes the setting.

Suq’s bright, cheerful interiors with live cooking stations all around get your appetite going from the moment you walk in. Those who prefer to enjoy the sea breeze can opt to dine in the outdoor tent set-up that’s also available. While we were seated outdoors, we found that the evening was a little too warm to be enjoyed on the lawns.

In the food department, where Suq lacks in originality, it makes up for in variety and quantity. Unsurprisingly, the lamb ouzi was the unanimous hit. The arayes (stuffed pita bread), lamb stew with okra and the seabass sayadiah also stood out.

Apart from the plentiful Arabic fare, the restaurant also serves a variety of other cuisines; from a sushi and sashimi counter to a pasta station to a live BBQ grill. From the grill, our favourite picks were the lamb kofta and the chicken sheesh tawouk. Oh — and those who love their Indian food must try the chicken biryani.

And if all that wasn’t enough, Suq also went all out on the dessert front with over 18 different homemade ice creams and a crepe station as well. Don’t forget to give the Turkish delight a try.

Check out Suq if you’re turning up with a big appetite, and for its tranquil view.
